The idea that something I’ve created is part of the landscape of another person’s day really means a lot to me. Picturing parents-to-be hanging up their new painting, sweetly anticipating their new arrival, knowing that it will soon be keeping them company during those sleepless nights is what brings me to the table. And when I get to that table? Well, that mysterious combo of skill and hope and pure play is what keeps me there. When I’m stuck or hesitant, the thought of the recipient is what nudges me forward. Making someone feel special and thought of is a most worthy purpose. The good and messy middle is where the magic happens.
